Community action committed to enhancing Ventura’s Tree Canopy.
To plant trees is to give body and life to one's dreams for a better world. —Russell Page
A healthy urban forest enhances community health and well-being. Trees are a climate solution. They moderate heat and wind, mitigate building energy use and CO2 emissions, improve air and water quality, decrease rainfall runoff and flooding, provide homes for plants and animals and lower sound pollution.
Changing the world is possible, one tree at a time.
Community members, governmental agencies and educators are coming together to make small changes affecting Ventura in a big way—adding new trees to empty tree wells, beautifying our parks, streets and sidewalks, creating shade and wind breaks for hot, blustery days and augmenting our wildlife habitat.
Since our inception in 2021, we’ve planted over 200 trees in Ventura, engaging the passion and enthusiasm of the community at large. We’ve been recognized with the County of Ventura Board of Supervisors’ Earth Day Award and the Best Urban Forestry Project in the State of California in 2022.
We’re teaming up with great partners including the City of Ventura’s Urban Forestry team, CalFire, ReLeaf, Southern California Edison, the Coalition for Clean Air (Clean Air Day), College Area Community Council/Midtown Community Council/East Community Council, County of Ventura - Sustainability Division, and Ventura Unified School District.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The next best time is now. —Anonymous
There are approximately 12,000 empty tree wells and other locations in the city of Ventura where a tree could provide shade for bicyclists, hikers, runners, walkers, seniors and families with children. Our goal is to plant trees throughout the city, to enhance a vibrant, sustainable urban forest.
